This creamy dessert is a new take on tiramisu. Instead of using coffee, I used chai flavours. It’s super quick and easy to make (took me less than 30 mins to make). I used a basic tiramisu recipe but replaced the coffee with tea and added chai latte powder to the cream mixture.

  • 1 tub of Drink Me chai powder
  • 2 packets of sponge fingers (or enough to make two layers in your dish)
  • 2 cups strong tea- I used 6 teabags
  • 4 tsp of sugar
  • 2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 500 g of mascarpone cheese
  • 900 ml double cream (that’s roughly 1 1/2 pots of the large double cream pots which are usually 600ml)
  • 1 tsp caster sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon for the topping

  1. In a mixing bowl, add the mascarpone cheese, cream and a tub of Drink Me chai powder and mix with an electric whisk until thick
  2. In a shallow bowl, add the strong tea and mix in the cardamom and cinnamon powder and sugar
  3. Dip the sponge fingers into the tea but don’t soak it completely otherwise it may disintegrate
  4. Place the sponge fingers in a dish covering the surface to create the first layer
  5. Spread the mascarpone and cream mixture on top of the sponge finger layer to create the second layer
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 to create two layers of sponge fingers and two layers of cream
  7. Using a sieve, dust the cinnamon and sugar mixture on top

How large is the tub of chai latte powder? I see multiple sized containers on Amazon so wanted to make sure I add the right amount into the recipe. Many thanks in advance!

PS: I love this recipe so much. Can’t wait to try it! You are an absolute genius for coming up with this!

Hello Chai Wali! How many people does this dessert serves? Also is this very sweet? I don’t like desserts that are too sweet and do you think I cut on the sugar? I will update on results once I have made it. many thanks

Hi, it’s not too sweet, and it serves between 8-10 depending on how large the servings are.

What liqueur you might recommend with this?

Hi there, I don’t drink so I don’t think I’d be the right person to recommend. In some Tiramisus Marsala Wine is used (although this isn’t used in authentic Italian Tiramisu). Not sure how that would work with Chai though. Wish I could be more help!
